Support the Project34 Health Equity Action Fund – Roseland

Hey neighbors! We have a big goal, and we need your help to reach it.

At Project34, we believe that a thriving community is built on more than just successful businesses, it’s built on the health and safety of the people who live and work here. That’s why we are launching the Health Equity Action Fund – Roseland. We are raising $20,000 to advance health equity, patient safety, and community voice right here on the South Side.

Roseland is a neighborhood of incredible strength, creativity, and resilience. But for too long, our residents have faced barriers to the high-quality healthcare they deserve. It’s time we demand better, and we’re inviting you to join us in making that happen.

Why This Matters to Roseland

We all want a neighborhood where our families can grow and thrive. A huge part of that is having a healthcare system we can trust. Unfortunately, recent data shows there is significant work to be done.

Roseland Community Hospital, a vital institution in our area, has received repeated low Hospital Safety Grades from The Leapfrog Group. In Fall 2024, the hospital received a D, and in Spring 2026, it received an F. These grades aren't just letters on a page, they represent real concerns about patient safety, medical errors, and the transparency of the care provided to our community members.

This issue is not about tearing down a community hospital. It’s about something much more important: protecting patients, improving systems, and ensuring that every resident receives the quality of care they deserve. We believe that health equity means having a seat at the table when decisions are made about our resources. It means having access to safe care, trusted information, and transparent systems.

What is Health Equity?

At Project34, we view health equity as a fundamental right. It’s not just about having a hospital nearby; it’s about the quality of the experience inside those walls.

  • Access: Ensuring everyone has the same opportunity to get the care they need without barriers.

  • Safety: Knowing that when you walk through those doors, the systems in place are designed to protect you.

  • Accountability: Holding institutions to high standards and ensuring they are transparent with the community they serve.

  • Voice: Making sure that residents, healthcare workers, and local leaders are heard.

We know that when our community is healthy, our businesses thrive. Our programs and services are designed to support the whole entrepreneur, and that includes the health of the neighborhood they call home.

What Your Support Helps Fund

Your contribution to the Health Equity Action Fund isn't just a donation; it’s an investment in a safer, more equitable future for Roseland. Here is how we will put these funds to work:

1. Community Health Equity Advocacy

We will lead the charge in raising awareness around healthcare access and patient rights. We believe that an informed community is a powerful one. By advocating for hospital accountability and patient safety, we can push for the systemic changes Roseland needs.

2. Public Education and Outreach

Knowledge is power. We will create materials, host forums, and lead workshops to help residents understand their healthcare resources. Whether it’s navigating insurance, understanding quality measures, or learning how to be a patient advocate, we want to provide the tools for success.

3. Roseland Community Engagement

We are better together. This fund will support listening sessions, resident outreach, and coalition-building. We are bringing together healthcare workers, faith leaders, educators, and local stakeholders to ensure we are all moving in the same direction.

4. Policy and Accountability Efforts

Change often starts with policy. We are calling for stronger oversight and improved community involvement in healthcare decisions. We want to ensure that Roseland’s healthcare future is shaped by the people who live here.

5. Health Equity Events and Initiatives

We love a good gathering! We’ll be hosting future forums and community programs designed to bring residents and partners together. These events are where the real magic happens, where solutions are born and connections are made.
